Hideaway Circus is seeking a Concessionaire to join their open-air touring summer circus Stars Above. The Concessionaire will work closely with the Head Concessionaire and Touring Operations Manager to ensure a smooth operation of the concession department for the traveling circus. The 2023 North East tour includes travel and touring with the circus throughout New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine.
Rehearsal & Tech Schedule: June 19, 2022 – June 31, 2023
Rehearsal Location: Lumberyard Center for Performing Arts, Catskill, NY
Performance Schedule: June 31, 2023 – September 10, 2023
Performance Fee: $650 – $750 per week (plus additional pay for driving a company vehicle)
Accommodation: Airbnb, hotel, or equivalent.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Load in and set up the concession department at each show site, including the proper assembly of concession stands and trailers.
Prepare and stock all food and drink items, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained throughout the event.
Operate popcorn and cotton candy machines prior to and during performances.
Prepare and serve popcorn and cotton candy and cold drinks to customers during performances.
Maintain a clean, attractive presentation at concessions areas.
Keep an inventory of all concession equipment and supplies, and order new items as needed to maintain an adequate stock including for apparel and children’s toys.
At the end of each show, tear down and properly store all equipment and inventory, ensuring that everything is securely packed and ready for transport to the next show site.
Work closely with other crew members to ensure that all operational aspects of the show are coordinated smoothly.

Requirements:
2+ years of experience in a circus, live performance, or equivalent retail setting
Should be ServeSafe certified or have equivalent training to ensure proper food handling, storage, and preparation techniques are followed.
Should have experience with inventory tracking to ensure the appropriate stock levels are maintained for all products sold at the concession stands.
Should have knowledge of health and safety regulations to ensure all products sold at the concession stands meet required standards.
Should have a keen attention to detail to ensure that all inventory counts, cash handling, and other operational aspects of the concession department are accurately managed.
Must have a friendly and professional attitude, able to work on schedule and under pressure.
Must have ability to operate a cash register and handle cash and credit transactions.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be willing to travel with the circus company.
Physical Demands:
Work involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and other physical activities consistent with setting up and operating concession equipment.
Supervision:
Supervision is received from the Touring Operations Manager and Head Concessionaire.
Period of Employment:
This is an approx. three month seasonal position from mid June to the beginning of September, 2023.
